My Goals and Dreams for 2024
Life Reset
One year ago, I was heavily invested in my work as a product manager at an investment bank. Most of my time was spent working long days, studying technical topics, and seeking out opportunities to ‘prove my worth’ to my superiors (but more honestly, to myself).
I worked myself into debilitating sickness and an existential crisis. In hindsight, I can see it was a long time coming.
Today, I’m unemployed, back in school, and, unexpectedly, the happiest I’ve been in years. People keep telling me: "You’re glowing.”
Things seem to be trending in the right direction.
Two Goals for 2024
Recalibrating my life means leaning into things that give me energy. Two things that inevitably energize me are being around great people and creating music.
Land a new job
I want to join a company where I can work with great people. A supportive atmosphere full of smart and dedicated people has a hugely positive impact on my well being.
So my first goal for this year is to land a job at a company with supportive, smart, and dedicated people. Ideally, I’d love to work at a tech startup with a mission I believe in (eg. mental health, animal welfare, education). But in the end, I’m open to many different possibilities. You never know what excellent and unexpected opportunity will present itself.
Record an EP
To my great surprise, this year I started music school.
Already a musician for years, I never took myself seriously until now. Along with harp and voice lessons, I’m learning how to craft my image, write music, and produce.
So my second goal for this year is to record an EP (a short album of 4-6 songs). Many artists release an EP early in their career as they find their sound and image. This is exactly my intention.
Although I’m still experimenting with my sound, I think you can expect a cross between celtic music and pop.
